The Housing Initiative, LLC is a mission driven affordable housing development company. Created in 2016 as a subsidiary of the Council for the Homeless, the Housing Initiative, LLC develops housing for people with barriers to renting in the private market.

Sierk Braam

Sierk has worked in the Affordable Housing arena for more than 20 years.  His experience includes both private sector and non-profit sector affordable housing finance. He worked in Banking for National City Corporation (now PNC Bank) managing affordable single family loan volumes for the western part of the United States, and as Vice President and Director of National City Bank’s Chicago Community Development Corporation, promoting the revitalization of low- and moderate-income communities through loans and investments in residential real estate. Sierk’s career started in the non-profit sector where he developed housing, provided technical assistance and training, and worked for organizations that made grants and loans to affordable housing development projects. Sierk has a Masters of City and Regional Planning from The Ohio State University and an undergraduate degree from the University of Oregon.
